Verified Purchase Disclaimer up front–I know the author and was a beta reader for this book, however that is a very different experience than just reading it through purely for the pleasure of it. I purchased the e-book of Forever Chosen two days ago, and I’ve zipped through it as a fun read. Reluctant vampire and dedicated detective Rafael Jones comes up against his archenemy Russian criminal vampire Rasputin who hopes to corrupt and co-opt the Zionist movement in post World War II New York. This guy is very powerful, and it’s a good thing Raf has the aid of a demonologist, a dryad, a sharp secretary, a NYPD cop, and maybe a Russian princess–and you will find yourself hoping that’s enough. Helen Krummenacker successfully combines the detective noir genre with elements of fantasy and legend. I can hardly wait for the next book.

Okay everyone, the big day is drawing near and you still want to get a few more gifts but don’t know what to buy, or don’t want to go out into the stores which have already pulled down half of their displays and are lining up Spring stuff. Didn’t know you could do this? Neither did I for the longest time. I only found out a couple of years ago when Allan and I released “The Vampyre Blogs – Coming Home”. We were rewarding some of our beta-readers with a free copy of the finished product in whatever form they wished (trade paperback, Kindle, PDF). Most requested a signed trade paperback, but a couple asked for the Kindle version.
So we headed over to Amazon, got into my account, and pulled up “The Vampyre Blogs – Coming Home”. Once there we discovered the “Give As A Gift” button and clicked it. From there we were taken to another screen which asked us to sign into our Amazon account, which we did. From there we were taken to a final screen
This screen asked only for the e-mail address of the recipient we were sending this book to AND what day we wanted it delivered. It was the option of a delivery date that really caught my eye. Now I had a way of getting a copy of one of my books into someone’s hands right on Christmas, their birthday, you name it.

Whether it’s a pull quote, the preview feature on Amazon, or sites where you can read up to 20% of the book for free (I enabled the highest setting, because I have confidence people will want to find out what happens next), sharing is caring and I was delighted to see a reader share a bit of dialogue that caught her fancy via a Kindle feature. I also will be sharing samples now and then that don’t spoil the stories. Humor in my books is one of the thing I really pride myself on and I as shocked to notice my posts so far haven’t been very specific about that. The characters both are deliberately witty, with sparkling banter or biting wit when it fits, and sometimes… well, there may be moments where Raf seems more like Buster Keaton than David Niven. Frankly, I think it makes him easy to relate to.
